Volume 2 only (of two). First edition, simultaneous with an Elzevier edition. (See OCLC 39926835.) First part of title, in brackets, transliterated from Hebrew. Twelve full-page engraved plates. All but three are included in the pagination and have text printed on the reverse. One plate (p. 817) is trimmed close on the right margin, just entering the plate and skimming the image. Small quarto. (20 x 15 cm.) Signatures: [-]2 3I-6B4 6C3 (-6C4) 6D2 6E-6I4 6K2. 6C4, the missing leaf, is probably a blank. Pp. [2],[431]-940,[48]. The final unnumbered section is comprised of three indices and an Errata leaf. Disbound: Bookblock is separated into four parts; early leather boards, including marbled endpapers, are present but detached; lacks backstrip. A few gatherings are moderately browned, one of which includes a plate (p. 799). Otherwise the text is clean. Ex library: Small library stamp embossed in blind on t.p. with ink cancel on reverse, and with usual marks on boards (bookplate, pocket, shelfmark on top board, etc.). The first (missing) volume discusses the materials, colors and origins of sacred dress; in the second volume the various forms of the garments are considered. This is a scarce work on the Jewish high priests; we offer only volume 2, with all faults. Rare. .
