Known as a poet for his early use of realistic narrative form and his descriptions of middle and working-class life. Containing some of his most well-known poems including 'The Village,' 'The Borough,' and his poetry collections 'Tales' and 'Tales of the Hall' among many others. Prize binding inscribed in Latin to Gulielmo Waterfild for poetics in 1850. In full calf binding with five raised bands and gilt tooling to spine, gilt blind stamp to boards, marbled edges and endpapers. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear, minor rubbing to spine and extremities, spine sunned. Internally, firmly bound.
