In the original Italian. An uncommon work.Complete in two parts, with 'De Sonetti di Burchiello' and 'Sonetti di Messer Antonio Almanni&apos.Illustrated with a frontispiece, engraved title page.ESTC citation number T94134.Title page states London as the publication location, but ESTC gives the publication location as Lucca and Pisa, with the title page being incorrect.Collated, complete.A collection of the beautiful Italian poetry of Burchiello and Antonio Alamanni, both fifteenth century Italian poets. Burchiello was the pen name of Domenico di Giovanni, some of his sonnets known for being mocking satires of the Petrarchian literary culture of the day.This volume provides an interesting insight into the poetical styles of Italy in the fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries. In a full blind stamp mottled calf binding. Externally, generally smart, with some rubbing to the boards and spine. A little minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Small crack to the spine label. Ink scribbled to the verso the front endpaper and rear endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean with a few scattered spots.
