An Eton Colle edition bound in a full calf prize binding signed Spottiswoode & Co. awarded to Edward Scawen Wyndham, son of Henry Wyndham, second Baron of Leconfield, in 1901. Complete with half title. Featuring a frontispiece portrait of the author as well as decorative initials, head and tail pieces, and other full page plates of engravings of charming landscapes. Containing Gray's original poems as well as translations into English and Latin verse of the works of Petrarca, from the Anthologia Græca, and others. In a full calf Eton College prize binding, with five raised bands and gilt tooling to the spine, Eton College lion crest to the front and rear boards, gilt to the edges. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only, minor rubbing to the spine and extremities of the boards. School Prize inscription to the Eton prize bookplate bound in with the volume, dated 1901. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean, only slight frontispiece offsetting to the title page.
