William Dunlap's study of the historical events from Napoleon's invasion of Russia in 1812 until his escape to Elba. The publisher's paper covered boards are restored. No half title as called for.William Dunlap (1766-1839) was a prominent American painter, playwright, and historian known as the 'father' of American drama; he is known as one of the founders of the National Academy of Design.  Rebacked with the original boards restored, new endpapers. Externally generally sound with some shelf wear and rubbing, chipping to the extremities of the boards, soiling and minor light spotting. Internally, firmly bound.
