A rare first edition of this scarce work, exploring the city of London. Written by 'Uncle Jonathan,' who explores the city sharing observations and information on the wanderings, drawing a sketch of the British capital. With chapters focussing on Guildhall, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London, bridges over the Thames, the British Museum and National Gallery, as well as many other descriptions of various attractions and relevant areas. Adorned with some striking engravings illustrating the tour. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, light soiling to the boards. The front free endpaper is clipped to the upper right corner. Internally, firmly bund. A minor staining mark to the front free endpaper and rear endpapers, not affecting any of the text block.
