A brightly illustrated family Bible in a full morocco binding, containing both the Old and New Testament, and with metal clasps in full working order.Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and title page, ten colour plates and fourteen further plates. These further black and white plates are after the illustrations of famed French printmaker and artist Gustave Dore.This striking work was edited by Scottish theologian, Presbyterian minister and Biblical critic John Eadie, who was the Professor of Biblical Literature for the United Presbyterian Church. Present within this volume are the 'commentaries of Scott and Henry', and 'many thousand critical and explanatory notes&apos.This edition dated circa 1880 via WorldCat. In the original full morocco binding, with gilt detailing and full working metal clasps. Light rubbing to raised bands, spine head and tail, and joints. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with the odd spot to first few leaves. Plates exceptionally bright, and retaining their original tissue guards. Very Good . Ill.: Gustave Dore. Very Good .
