Initially published weekly, during late 1941 the magazine switched to a fortnightly format, due to newsprint shortages.Launched with official support just after the end of the London Blitz, this magazine quickly became the focus for all the aircraft enthusiasts in the UK. It"s official function was to help improve the standard of aircraft recognition among civilian air defence volunteers, but it effectively popularised the hobby of "spotting".Containing features, photographs and silhouettes of the major aircraft types, both friend and foe. After the demise of the magazine in 1948, many "spotters" set up their own organisations to carry on their interest. In the publisher's original quarter cloth bindings, with paper covered boards. Bumping to spine heads and tails. Some rubbing to back strips. Internally, firmly bound. The odd pencil mark throughout, most prominent to vol III title page. Pages age toned due to paper type, as is common with this work. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
