The Man in the Moon is a satirical pamphlet attributed to William Hone in response to the Peterloo Massacre of 1819. This is the fifteenth edition of 1820. A politically radical pamphlet, in response to the massacre of peaceful protestors for political reform. In response, the Government passed the 'Six Acts', compromising freedom of speech and quelling reformists and radical political activity. Illustrated with fifteen cuts attributed to George Cruikshank, illustrating cavalrymen attacking and killing protestors, as well as the Prince Regent, the Church, and the army as they dance hand in hand with the devil. Disbound. Externally sound with some shelf wear and some spotting to the front and rear wrap. internally, the binding is only slightly loose but firm.
