He wrote plentiful works, including his Odes, Satires, Epistles, Epodes and Ars Poetica. His work strongly influenced contemporaries such as Ovid and Propertius, as well as later writers such as Petrarch, Dante, Ben Jonson, John Dryden, Edward FitzGerald, and W. H. Auden. He is also held as being the first autobiographer in the world.With historical and critical commentaries by Andre Dacier (1751-1822), a French scholar of classics. His other editions included those of Pompeius Festus and Verrius Flaccus, Aristotle's Poetics, Hippocrates and Plutarch's Lives.Complete in ten volumes.In the original Latin as well as in French.A scarce work.
