Containing verses such as 'Ah, the poor shepherd's mournful fate', 'Callum o' glen', 'Langsyne, beside the woodland burn' and 'Sae flaxen were her ringlets&apos.Written by Allan Cunningham (1784-1842), a Scottish poet and author; he also wrote biographies such as 'Lives of Eminent British Painters, Sculptors and Architects', the play 'Sir Marmaduke Maxwell' and the poem 'The Maid of Elvar&apos.A first edition of this work.With all four volumes present. In the publisher's original paper-covered boards. Externally, a trifle worn, with chipping to the spines resulting in some loss. Some general wear to the boards and extremities. Front board of volumes I and II are loose but present. Ownership inscription to the front endpaper of volume I. Internally, generally firmly bound. The binding of volume II has split at page 176. Some tape repairs to the hinges. Pages are generally bright and clean, with a few spots. Good Only . Ill.: None. Good Only .
