London, The Linnean Society, 1881. 8vo (22.2 x 14.3 cm). 53 pp.; 18 text illustrations, two double-sized engraved plates. Original printed wrappers. = A seldom-seen, well-illustrated work, with the aim "to give a complete list of the Conifers of Japan ... together with incidental remarks on their structure, affinities, synonymy, and geographical distribution" (from the introduction). Maxwell Tylden Masters (1833-1907) was British botanist and editor of Gardnerer's Chronicle. Published in the Society's Journal, together with one other paper. Wrappers partly chipped and torn at edges; fore edges of plate 19 partly abraded; otherwise very good, clean and unmarked. Not in Stafleu and Cowan.
