Often attributed to Oliver Goldsmith, probably because of confusion with his "A Roman History from the Foundation.." (London, 1769) and his "A History of England in a Series of Letters from a Nobleman to his Son" (London, 1764). More often attributed to Robert Sanders, author of "The Complete English Traveler" and "The Lucubrations of Gaffer Graybeard." An attractive copy in contemporary calf; spine gilt in six compartments, with two lettering-pieces. One lettering piece missing. Extremities worn; external cracks to hinges. Edges tinted red. Small chip cut from final endpaper, else internally fine. (One copy, unattributed, in NUC). .
