A rare first edition, with frontispiece, decorative title-page and illustrations throughout. Collated, complete. This small collection of rhymes for children was published in 1861 in order to raise fund for two asylums in Surrey, Earlswood and Essex-Hall. This collection of shorter poems for younger readers followed after a selection of longer verse tales, referred to in the preface. This was published in the previous decade and entitled 'Adventures of a Sunbeam', by Eliza Grove. In publisher's original cloth binding, and in sound condition externally. Some rubbing and discolouration on the spine and extremities, along with shelfwear to the head and tail of the spine. Bookseller's label to the front pastedown, 'R. Canna & Sons, Harleston&apos. A contemporary inscription to the recto of front flyleaf, dated 'March 9th, 1862&apos. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright.
