It was a great pleasure to meet you recently, and I thoroughly enjoyed the occasion. I see so very few people, and on occasions, talk to myself, in self defence. But as a writer I have never indulged in parties, or belonged to a club, or indeed any literary associations. In spite of which, I've managed to survive. Life has changed for me, and I'm glad that writing is still a lifebelt. I am pleased that you liked The Welsh Sonata, the first book ever that I actually did on typewriter. I am buried in work at the moment, but hope, some time in the future we'll meet again, and I shall be able to shout hurrah, Opus finished. With best wishes, sincerely yours, James Hanley."With the unclipped dust wrapper. In the original publisher's cloth binding.
