Near fine copy. Crampton's monographs on Partula are among the greatest works of twentieth-centurt American natural history. Crampton explored the roles of environment isolation, mutation, and selection in the origin of species and geographic races. In this monograph on Partula from Tahiti Crampton studied and presented statistical summaries (all done by hand or with simplest calculating machines) for data on 80,000 adult shells from more than 200 valleys.
