Original (publisher's) green cloth with gilt title on spine and front board; large embossed vignette on rear board. = Written by the French malacologist Paul Fischer (1835-1893), based on Woodward's Manual, but much revised and enlarged. Contains new taxa although this is not always apparent from the text. The often lacking zoogeographical map is loosely inserted. It is rather foxed and probably from another copy. Binding a it weak due to the heavy book block. Some foxing as usual. ADDED: a second list of errata, compiled by Fischer's grandson, Paul Henri Fischer (1898-2003). Nissen ZBI, 1370.
