Reprint of author's 1848 novel, published in 1864. With a frontis portrait of author and 26 additional engraved illustrations by John Leech. Top edge gilt. With brown marbled endpapers (with sticker removal damage to the front pastedown.) Pages somewhat yellowed and interior of volume a bit fragile, but firm and intact. A number of interior pages with foxing. An attractive, well-preserved example of mid-nineteenth century English fiction by the noted playwright/entertainer. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 512 pages.
