TWAIN, MARK - Mark Twain's Perforated Interleaved Scrap Book

1892. (TWAIN, Mark). MARK TWAIN'S PERFORATED INTERLEAVED SCRAP BOOK. Patented January 14th, 1892. New York: Daniel Slote & Company, 1892. Title-page, [26] lined pages with index tabs at fore-edge, 136 numbered blank pages with gummed areas for mounting items in the scrap book. The gummed leaves have blank leaves between them which are perforated at the inside margin; these are to be removed as each gummed page is filled so as keep the volume a uniform thickness. Ocatavo. In the original black three-quarter leather and black cloth binding, which is missing most of the backstrip and is worn at the corners, with the front hinge starting. Clean internally and unused. Trade-mark label for the product is affixed to the front pastedown. This is not a literary production but a scrap book invented by Twain and originally patented by him in 1878. Due to the deteriorated backstrip, this copy is offered as is; though internally it is much better than the term implies. (See BAL 3614 for the 1878 copyright.). .
