In the title 'Squire Walsingham' is a pseudonym for William Arnall, Mother Osborne is a pseudonym of James Pitt. Arnall and Pitt founded the pro-Walpole Daily Gazetteer using the pseudonym Francis Walsingham and Mother Osborne. 'Horace to Fannius' is an imitation of Carm. ii. 8. In addition to this, 'apology for printing a certain nobleman's epistle to Dr Sh-w--n' referes to John, Baron Hervey as the Nobleman and Dr Sherwin as the addressee of the Epistle. With the text in Latin and English. A very scarce parody of this classical piece of literature. Disbound, as issued. Externally, bright with scattered spots. Ink spill to the top edges.
