Corners bumped, spine-ends rubbed (couple of tiny chips from base). Quite minor wear to covers, but light evidence of library tape removal at base of spine and onto front board. Unprinted spine has remnants of white library numbers. Brown end-papers have small library stamps. Front paste-down: private bookplate. Rear end-papers: slip and pocket removed. Blind stamped on title page and p. 17. Mostly minor soil within, small poem laid-in with newspaper browning to two leaves. Brief paragraphs plus 1- to 3-page-long anecdotes to relate to the young'uns. Wonderful engraved ilustrations throughout. Gift inscription first blank page dated 1874. Good.
