Rebound, in a half calf binding, with paper covered boards. This work was originally published under the name of de Isla's friend Don Francisco Lobon de Salazar in 1758. It is a humorous work, and depicts a peasant boy who rises to prominence as a preacher due to his smooth talking. A satire on the charlatanism of the popular preaching friars of the day. This translation, and abridgement is by Thomas Nugent.Collated, complete, with the final errata leaf. ESTC reference no: T63924.Jose Francisco de Isla was a Spanish Jesuit, his style was that of Miguel de Cervantes.  In a half calf binding, with paper covered boards.
