London, Henry Fisher, 1822. 8vo-sized (22.5 x 14.3 cm). Lithograph with caption. Sir Humphry Davy (1778-1829) "...is best remembered today for his discoveries of several alkali and alkaline earth metals, as well as contributions to the discoveries of the elemental nature of chlorine and iodine." (Wikipedia). He was one of the founding members of the Geological Society and a Fellow of the Royal Society, of which he became president in 1822, on which occasion the present portrait was issued. A few tiny holes in the right margin (from previous binding), moderate toning and spotting towards the margins, otherwise good.
