Third volume of Crampton's three monographs on Partula that are among the greatest works of twentieth-century American natural history. Crampton explored the roles of environment isolation, mutation, and selection in the origin of species and geographic races. In this monograph Crampton studied and presented statistical summaries (all done by hand or with simplest calculating machines) for data on thousands adult shells from describing every minute variation of every species and variety of Partula from every valley on Moorea. At the end of the book are exquisite colour pictures of every single variety.
