PAPER TOY - Play Merry Go Round

1944. [PAPER TOY]. PLAY MERRY-GO-ROUND. New York: J. L. Schilling Co. 1944. A single sheet (24" x 15") with two extending flaps color-printed with all necessary component parts to assemble a three-dimensional merry-go-round. The individual pieces, which are perforated at the edges, have tabs and slots so the whole can be assembled without glue. The merry-go-round has a red and white striped roof and a bright panorama, showing a little boy and several little girls riding dapple ponies and a yellow duckling, beneath which runs a blue band printed with musical notes. When assembled, the roof is to balance and gently spin on a pointed base, which is also included on the sheet, and stand approximately 8 1/2." Two stand-alone figures are also included: a balloon lady and a ticket seller. Mention is made on the sheet that the merry-go-round was to come with four "indestructable" panoramas; alas, we have but one panorama. The paper is lightly toned with some light soiling, which is a bit heavier at folds, and the roof piece has detached from the sheet; very good plus. A genuinely sweet toy. .
