A collection of poems by the the Dutch poet Bernard ter Haar (1806-1880). Bernard was a member of Holland's Patrician Ter Haar family and a Dutch preacher, poet and professor of theology, known as one of the 19th-century “pastor-poets (or dominee-dichters).Ter Haar's moralistic poetry, considered by the Tachtigers to be old-fashioned, “homespun” and narrow-minded, was parodied, like that of other pastor-poets, by Cornelis Paradijs (pseudonym of Frederik van Eeden) in the collection Grassprietjes or Liederen op het gebied van Deugd, Godsvrucht en Vaderland.Poetry - Dutch poems - pastor poets - dominee dichters - Ter Haar - Arnhem - Dutch patriciate - moralistic poetry - nineteenth century Bound in linen, 22.2 x 14 cm.
