Three parts in one volume. A Dutch translation of the original English text by the cleric Jeremy Taylor, sometimes known as the Shakespeare of Divines for his poetic style of expression. The text enjoyed great popularity in its home country, where at least 7 editions were published.With a map and multiple copper copper engravings (or konstplaaten) by Jan and Caspar Luyken. These painters were very famous for their prints in religious books. Large frontispiece and title vignette.Religion - translation - christianity - Ireland - vellum binding - parchment Blind-tooled vellum binding, 32 x 20.8 cm. Manuscript title on upper half of spine. Carved initials on upper front board. Signs of wear, browned edges, some stains/foxing.
