New York: The Vking Press, 1953. First edition (hardback). 8vo (22cm by 15cm), xii, 307pp. Text decorations by Karel Svolinsky. Original two-tone red cloth binding, dustwrapper. Light foxing to the edges of the text block, else the book is in very good condition; the dustwrapper is in tatty condition (chipped and torn with siginificant loss). The dustwrapper has now been put in a mylar cover to protect it. This copy appears to be inscribed by the author, as the following inscription appears on the front free endpaper: "To Jim with love from Stella, Sept 1961".
