Near contemporary blue buckram with gilt title on the spine. = Quite useful for identification of the largely endemic avifauna of this rather isolated island in the Indian Ocean, as the text illustrations show taxonomically important parts; most often the bird's heads and beaks, sometimes whole animals. Oddly, the drawing of a dodo - not known from Réunion - forms the title page vignette. Broad margins. Bound copies, such as this one, are rare. Stamp on front paste-down and a small blind-stamp on the title page, otherwise a very good, clean copy.
