Bust portrait of the Dutch poet Rutgaert Jansz. The bearded man is wearing a ruff collar. According to the New Hollstein this engraving is probably printed from an engraved silver medallion, which possibly contained another engraving on the verso.Inscribed on the oval frame: 'T'GAE SOO GOD WIL' and 'R.I.V.D. OVT 60. 1596'. Lettered in lower left corner: 'IDGeÿn fe'.The original drawing is in Haarlem, at the Teylers Museum (inv. N90). A small envelope with a reproduction of the original drawing and of another at the Rijksmuseum (RP-T-1898-A-4075). Engraving on laid paper with small margins; total: 71 x 55 mm; state II/2; slightly toned paper, some dirt; mounted on cardboard with pencil inscription in English below.
