De Mare collected the genre compositions by Chalon, he etched them in different states, and employed them in: Zinspelende gedigjes, op de geestige printjes ge-etst door Pieter de Mare.... The small plate is signed on the bottom: P.d.M. sc. and Chr.a Chalon. / f.. Man with hat and, taking a child by the hand. Chalon's drawings are extremely intimate and cute. These impressions are hand colored, which makes them even more pleasant. Hand-colored etchings on paper; plate: 128 x 82 mm, total: 200 x 117 mm; the surface somewhat scratched; smudges on the bottom. Published in Amsterdam by Willem van Vliet 1793.
