Woensel, Joan Pieter (1789-1827) - Study of a male figure (Tekening van man).

On one plate, four studies of a male figure in different positions. Besides being a renown still life painter, Petronella van Woensel made also drawings and prints. This very plate might be proof of the artist's pruderie, in as much in any of the nude figures genitalia are visible. Signed at the bottom: 'IOANPIETESVANWOENSEL'. Etching. Monogrammed also on the verso, top left in pencil: PVW. Etching on paper with margins, plate mark: 134 x 182 mm, total: 163 x 211 mm; in outstanding condition.
