Foster was an essayist and Baptist minister of the late 18th and early 19th century, who is best remember for his essay 'Essay on the Evils of Popular Ignorance&apos. This particular work features four essays as follows: Essay I. On A Man's Writing Memoirs of Himself (In seven letters); Essay II. On Decision of Character (In six letters); Essay III. On The Application of The Epithet Romantic (In five letters); Essay IV. On Some of The Causes By Which Evangelical Religion Has Been Rendered Unacceptable to Persons of Cultivated Taste (In nine letters). In a full morocco binding. Externally smart, with patches of rubbing to the spine, raised bands and extremities. Light rubbing marks to the front and rear pastedowns and endpapers. Internally firmly bound.
