Pierre Drevet (1663-1738), after Reinier Zeeman (1623/24-1664) - [Antique print, etching] Harbour scene with a Lage Arch on the Quay (Haven bij de kade), published before 1738.

According to the Hollstein this and some other ten plates are to be ascribed to copyists of Zeeman. This plate in particular has a Lorrainesque appeal, with the theatrical foreground beyond which is the scene in the open sea. Especially the arch on the right gives to the plate a scenographic look. Signed and addressed at the bottom: 'Seeman fecit / Drevet Avec privilege'. Etching on paper trimmed within margin; total: 124 x 229 mm, state II/2, traces of previous mounting on the four corners on the verso, somewhat yellowed paper; Hollstein 156, Bartsch 159. Text counter mark.
