Born in Greifswald, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen before settling in Dresden, where he developed his distinctive style. His paintings often feature solitary figures in vast, mysterious landscapes, exploring themes of nature, spirituality, and the sublime. Friedrich's work, including masterpieces such as Wanderer above the Sea of Fog and The Abbey in the Oakwood, reflects a deep sense of contemplation and melancholy. His use of light and composition influenced later generations of artists, particularly within Symbolism and Expressionism. Although his work fell into obscurity after his death, it was rediscovered in the early 20th century and is now regarded as a cornerstone of Romanticism.. Very Good- with no dust jacket .
