Born on 15 July 1919 in Dublin, Ireland, she was raised in London and educated at Somerville College, Oxford, where she studied classics. She later attended the University of Cambridge, where she briefly studied philosophy under Ludwig Wittgenstein. Murdoch was one of the most significant British novelists of the 20th century, producing 26 novels that blended psychological insight with intricate moral dilemmas. Her debut novel, Under the Net (1954) , introduced her distinctive style—philosophical, witty, and concerned with the complexities of human relationships. Her novels are often populated with eccentric, deeply flawed characters, and her writing style is rich in symbolism, myth, and moral questioning.. Very Good+ in Good dust jacket .
