Contains a loosely inserted note addressed to a 'Mr Harvey' on Jonathan Clowes headed paper (Amis's agent). The work has been corrected and signed in Amis's own hand. Kingsley Amis was an English novelist, poet, critic and teacher. Amis's first novel Lucky Jim was an immediate success and marked the beginning of a long career in writing. He wrote more than 40 books, including 20 novels and many volumes of poetry. In 2008, The Times ranked Amis 13th on their list of the top fifty greatest British writers since 1945. The Pleasure of Poetry is a collection of poetical works, all of which appeared in his Daily Mirror column. In a brown cloth binding in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally in excellent condition, with some slight wear to the extremities. Marks to the boards. Ink inscription of 'T. D. Harvey' (to whom the personalised letter is addressed) to front free endpaper. Dustwrapper is in excellent condition with just some slight shelfwear to the extremities. Spine is sunned.
