Edited, and with a memoir by Robert Bell. John Dryden was an English poet, literary critic, translator and playwright who was made Poet Laureate. Dryden was one of the foremost poets of Restoration England. His poems were often factual in subject matter. He often used formal structures such as heroic couplets, which he established as a standard form of English poetry in his successful satires. In a half calf binding with cloth covered boards. Externally, generally smart with patches of rubbing to the joints and to the head and tail of spine. Bumping to the head and tail of spine as well as to the extremities. Spine has faded. Light rubbing to the boards. Front hinge is strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright, slightly age toned to edges. Occasional spots to pages. Very Good . Ill.: None.
