In a fair condition due to binding, though relatively bright internally. An uncommon work, with charming illustrations by popular children's book illustrator Susan Beatrice Pearse. She was best known for illustrating this popular series of children's books. The Ameliaranne series comprised of 20 children's books published between 1920 and 1950. There were eight different individual authors to these works, with Pearse being their only illustrator. Typically these tales follow the girl and her challenges with new or difficult situations. Typically she uses her imagination and ingenuity to resolve problems. Chronologically, this work is the fifth of the series, and first written by Margaret Gilmour. In original pictorial boards. Externally, worn to the spine, with much of the backstrip lacking. Bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Backstrip has very little remaining. Patches of light rubbing to boards. Front hinge has failed resulting in backstrip lifting from textblock. Prior owner's inscription to the verso of front endpaper, Rachel Pumphrey.
