First edition. 8vo. original maroon cloth, spine in gilt; photo illustrations. Light wear to extremities, touch soil/rubbing to cloth, touch of foxing internally. A very good copy. A work supporting the efforts of the Salvation Army (Haggard donated the copyright to the organization as well.) Haggard was asked to write the book by General Booth, whom he met while watching the funeral procession of King Edward VII. (Scott 55, Whatmore NF9). .
