Custom brown cloth chemise, housed in a brown quarter-leather slipcase. 3 volumes: [4], 302, [2 (adverts)]; [4], 328; [4], 316 pp. Crown 8vo. 7-3/4" x 5-1/8" Woodlanders .. "Hardy sometimes singled out as the best and his own favourite among his novels.. The novel was .. a considerable success." [Purdy, pp. 56-57]. Volumes shaken, with rubs & scraps. V3 rear joint cloth starting. Most hinges starting, a couple with mull showing. A Good set only, in a handsome Nr Fine custom chemise & slipcase.
