Frontispiece, 22 mostly folded and tinted or coloured maps and views (often with additional, smaller maps). Both in similar blue cloth with gilt titles. = The English, revised edition of a work first published in Dutch (however, with the map captions always in English). It is the first detailed geographical and geological description of central Borneo, now Kalimantan, and in particular the (by far largest) Indonesian part. The text volume has an appendix on fossil Radiolaria by the British geologist, palaeontologist, Fellow of the Royal Society, and recipient of the Lyell Medal, George Jennings Hinde (1839-1918), which is not present in the Dutch edition. Profusely illustrated with fine photographed plates, maps and a comprehensive geological description of the region. Not an original binding, but well done, and with the interior in very good condition.
