London: Hutchinson & Co, nd. (c.1924). Set in Madrid, the novel tells the story of the demon king Asmodeus, Don Cleophas Leandro Perez Zambullo and his beloved, Donna Thomasa. Asmodeus is imprisoned in a bottle. He is freed by a young aristocrat, and then assists his rescuer in a series of pranks. He also grants the young man the superhuman power of flight, which the man uses to spy on others. The novel depicted fictionalized versions of Parisian celebrities of the era. 23.5cms x 16cms x 4.5cms. Pp.xxiv/324, colour frontispiece + 7 further colour plates and 16 black & white plates, illustrated title pages, owner's name to front free endpaper, spotting to title page and occasional light spotting throughout, chipped edge to pp.293/294. Blue cloth, gilt title to spine, minor wear to top and tail of spine. G+.
