Rare book on the history of Mesen / Messines in Flanders. The battle of Messines was one of the big battles on this front in World War I. Many New Zealand, Australian and British Soldiers were killed and wounded in action here. Of the 31 contributions to the history of Mesen 5 are in English, the rest is in Dutch. There are also a number of photographs which document the visits of Government Ministers, Embassadors and even the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Robert Muldoon, to the scene of the battlefield.
