 1558792491,
Franklin Center, PA, The Franklin Library, 1977. Hardcover. Illustrations by Muriel Wood. 8vo. Full black calf with raised bands and elaborate gilt lettering and decorative rules and devices, publisher's thin card stock slipcase with silver foil label. 327pp. All edges gilt. Full-page illustrations, mustard moire silk endpapers, sewn-in mustard satin page marker. Fine/near fine. Pristine, tight limited (unspecified) printing of this 1964 multi-generational Alabama drama that confronts racism, winner of the 1965 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and Grau's best-known work. Tipped to the inner flyleaf is an actual pristine library catalogue card for the first trade edition (Knopf) of this title, a heavy stock 5" X 3" card, single-hole-punched at bottom center as expected, signed boldly in full by Grau in black ballpoint near center. Quite unusual!.
