Spine with four raised bands and gilt title. A detailed mineralogical study by the French geologist and professor at the École des Mines, Lucien Cayeux (1864-1944) with fine heliogravures by Monpillard. Cayeux "is noted for his study of sediments with the polarizing microscope, and was one of the pioneers in this field" (Wikipedia), this may to be an example of this approach. An attractively bound, clean copy. Rare in this state.
