0. Bruxelles, Musée du Livre, 1907 , in-4°, 28,5 x 21,5 cm, 46 pp + (36/40) plates hors-text. Bound in half leather, original softcover tipped on to the boards of the binding. Smooth spine with gilt title. The plates numbered 3 , 32, 35, 36, and 40 are missing. Not all the extant plates are bound in ( 4 are loosely inserted). This is the first year of the prestigeous Brussels' periodical devoted to the art of the book. It covers the whole subject : typography, lettering , binding, illustration...Its pre-war publications (before 1914) are rightly famous for the beautiful typographical execution. The project , animated by Henri Liebrecht, could rely on the aid of the main Brussels printing houses, paper and ink suppliers. ( e.g. Imprimerie Goossens, établ. Malvaux ...). They published between 4 and 6 issues per year ( fascicules ), these issues were accompanied by plates ( many original lithographs ; specimen illustrations etc.) Some of the plates came in a separate portfolio. All the plates have a serpent protection leaf with a printed text and plate-number. In all 419 plates were published between 1907 ( year 1) and 1918 ( year 11) , together with 46 issues. After the war the quality declined and after 1930 allmost all of the illustrations were photomechanical. .
