PERK, J[ACQUES, 1859-1881] - GREEBE, A.C.J.A., - Jacques Perk's Mathilde-Cyclus. In den oorspronkelijken vorm hersteld door A.C.J.A. Greebe.

's-Gravenhage, Nijhoff, 1915. Small stout 8°., original cloth, gilded title with large gilded vignette at tail on front cover, repetitive on spine. (xx), 376pp. Supplementary notes and some errata, nemerical references to pp. 314 ff., extensive introduction, table of contents. Dutch language analytical assessment of a poem, in its original shape, by a famous nineteenth century dutch poet by the name of Jacques Perk, the so-called Mathilde-cyclus. Perk was inspired by his short, 5 days, love for a girl by the name of Mathilde Thomas, whom he met and fell in love with during a 5-day stay in the Ardennes, Belgium. The cyclys has been re-written at least two times, rather shortly before Perk's untimely death at the age of twenty-two. Besides Garmt Stuiveling's assessment, this one is undoubtely one of the most prolific ever written. Very good copy in original publ. cloth. (small circular white ex-lib. label near tail of front outer joint).
