Pristine, tight first edition of this sci-fi fiction by of all people the financial futures pioneer and chairman of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (b. 1932), who boldly inscribes and signs the title page in black ballpoint: "To Adlai / We are children / of the Chicago Planet! / Best wishes / Leo Melamed." Adlai E. Stevenson III (1930-2021) served as U.S. Senator from Illinois (1969-81). He and Melamed once partnered in a business together, co-founding with one other in 2007 the Asian mergers and acquisitions firm HuaMei Capital Co. Inc. "Tenth Planet" is Melamed's first book and his only foray into science fiction, his other four titles all focusing on financial futures. Delightful presentation copy. .
