London, George Routledge and Sons., 1904. Folio. no pagination, completely illustrated, with comments. Internally very good. Orig. decorated darkred cloth printed in gold; slightly worn and soiled. Humor. Humorous series of over 150 illustrations featuring Victorian English travelers abroad in Europe. Richard Doyle (1824-1883) was an illustrator for the periodical "Punch" ca. 1845. He was the uncle of Sherlock Holmes's Arthur Conan Doyle.. The title-page shows 'The mail train of Dover. Brown, Jones, an Robinson starting on their travels. The first edition appeared in 1854.
